Peninsula School District Preschool Program
Our inclusion preschool program is
for children ages 3-5. Certificated special education teachers teach
typically developing children (peers) alongside children with
special needs. This program focuses on social/emotional development,
communication, problem solving, pre academic concepts and physical
development. An Occupational Therapist and Speech-language
Pathologist are in the classrooms part time to provide educational
therapy and classroom support to children with special needs and
include all of the children in many of their fun activities. This is
a great program for both typically developing children and children
who have special needs for several reasons. All of the children play
together and learn to accept and appreciate the individual
differences that each child brings to the classroom. The skills of
the teaching and therapy staff bring richness to the classroom and
helps with the children’s’ transition to the district’s all day
kindergarten program.
Parents are not required to volunteer
in this program although you are always welcome in class. Each class
meets 4 days a week, Monday – Thursday from 9:00 – 11:30 AM or 1:00
– 3:30 PM. The tuition for peers is 170.00 per month. Scholarship
assistance is available to income eligible families.

following:
For children: Preschool experience,
activities that build self esteem, developmental screenings,
transportation, health and nutrition education, medical/dental,
vision and hearing screenings, a hot lunch, and nutritious snacks.
For families: the program offers
parent groups and classes, information and referral to community
resources; job training and employment programs, opportunities for
personal growth, empowerment and leadership, information on health,
nutrition, and child development.
Childfind
Childfind is not a preschool but a
free screening that the Peninsula School District offers for
children under the age of five. If you have any concerns about how
your child hears, moves, talks, plays, learns or behaves – we may be
able to help. We offer these screenings every month. Just call
Michelle at 530-1168 to sign up for a Childfind screening or for
more information.
